Welcome to Drammen. I'm pleased you have chosen Drammen as your new home and I’m confident that you will contribute to the development of our city.

Drammen is a fast growing city, and the population growth has exceeded two per cent annually in recent years. Over the last two decades we have made great efforts to improve the environment. The river has been cleansed and the riverbanks have been developed with parks and walkways. The road networks have been relocated and the through traffic is routed outside the city centre, a centre which has undergone a complete renewal.    

Drammen is an international city and 20 per cent of the population is of immigrant origin, more than 12 000 people from close to 150 countries. The impact of this can be seen in our cultural festivals and events, in our theatres, music and art, businesses and trade.

We are proud of our diversity and intend to use this as an asset in future development of the city. Diversity drives creativity and innovation and enriches the city’s social, economic, and cultural vibrancy. As Mayor of Drammen I am committed to building a city that is prosperous, livable and provides opportunity for all its residents.
