Family welfare centre

Description

The Family Welfare Office provides an offer of treatment and advice during times of difficulty or a crisis in the family. You can contact the Family Welfare Office directly. All the staff are bound by a duty of confidentiality. Conversational therapy for couples and families is the most common procedure. The office also offers courses and group sessions covering topical themes related to family life and cohabitation. The Family Welfare Office also provides obligatory conciliation.

  • in connection with the breakdown of the relationship between married or cohabiting couples with children under 16 years
  • when parents who are not cohabiting desire a legal hearing concerning legal custody, the child’s domicile or access

Family Welfare Offices are to be found in every county. They are managed either by the state or the church, but are equally bound by the law and are approved by the Ministry of Children and Equality.

Price

The service is free of charge.

Cooperating authorities

The Family Welfare Office works in cooperation with the local health centres, particularly with pre-natal courses and courses for new parents under the title Good Family Life. When appropriate, and when the family desires, the Family Welfare Office cooperates with the local Child Welfare Office in order to find the best measures to the advantage of the whole family.

The Family Welfare Office also works in cooperation with the school, the social welfare office, voluntary organisations, the church and other similar bodies.
