Loan of technical aids
Description
If you are functionally disabled, or have had an operation, been injured or had an illness, you may borrow technical aids. These technical aids help make life easier and are loaned out for shorter or longer periods.

You have reduced functional abilities for a shorter or longer period.
Price
The provision of technical aids for long-term needs (exceeding two years) is covered by the social security authorities. The municipality loans equipment for shorter requirements.

You should contact the municipality when you require technical aids. Assistance in learning to use equipment, assembly and any possible repairs are carried out by the municipality.
Administrative procedure
We will register your needs for technical aids. Normally we will make a visit to your home. If you are given a place in a nursing home, your needs for assistance will be specified in the decision. Normally a reason is given for the decision at the same time. You will always be given a reason if there are grounds to believe that you will not be satisfied with the decision. If the reasons are not stated, you may ask the municipality. This should be done within the time limit for making an appeal.
Administration time
The municipality shall consider your application as soon as possible. If the matter cannot be determined within one month, you will be informed of this in writing with the reasons for the delay. At the same time you will be informed when you may expect to hear of the municipality’s decision.
Possibilities to appeal; procedure
If you are not satisfied with the decision concerning your permanent need for technical aids, you may appeal to the municipality within three weeks of having been informed. Explain why you are dissatisfied and why you feel the decision should be changed. If you need assistance, you may ask the municipality. If the municipality maintains its original decision, the matter is sent to the technical aid centre, which will decide whether the appeal may be allowed.
