Regulations for the primary and lower secondary school
Description
The municipality determines the rules and regulations for the primary and lower secondary school. Pupils and parents shall be informed of the regulations. These relate to behaviour, and measures to be taken in the event of a breach of the regulations.
Sanctions not mentioned in the regulations may not be applied. Physical reprimands or other offensive actions are not permitted.

Pupils in primary and lower secondary school and their guardians.
Criteria/conditions
Before any decision is made to expel or punish a pupil, the pupil shall have the opportunity to make oral representation to the person or body responsible for the decision. Before the principal approves expulsion, the principal shall consult the pupil’s teachers. Other forms of assistance or punishment shall be considered before an expulsion order is made.
Administrative procedure
Possibilities to appeal; procedure
You may appeal the most serious forms of punishment, that is expulsion for one or more days. The appeal must be made in written form stating reasons. The appeal may be sent to the principal. The deadline for lodging an appeal is three weeks after the decision has been received. In the appeal you should state which changes you wish to be made to the decision, stating reasons. The appeal body is the county governor. Before sending a appeal here, the principal shall consider whether there are grounds for changing the decision.
